I wanted to grow fat

I remember at about 6 years of age I enjoyed strapping pillows to my body and then putting clothes on me.

However being fat remained a fantasy for me.

At 14 years of when lived with my grandmother for a year I did grow a bit fat.

By the end of the year I had split the seams of my trousers.

Despite the fact that I ate a lot of food at boarding school during the following years I didn’t grow fat.

I envied the size of some of the other schoolboys. My belly was very small in comparison.

At 60 years old, I weighed about 110 kilograms (242 pounds). I got plenty of exercise riding my bicycle, going to the gym and swimming.

I was living above a sushi shop. Any day that they didn’t sell all their sushi, they let me have the leftovers instead of throwing them in the rubbish. I loved getting free food. It tasted delicious though I tended to still feel hungry even after eating several sushi rolls

I didn’t mind being that heavy. In fact when doing volunteer work loading rubbish into a rubbish skip, I could jump up and down on that rubbish and squash it down really well.

However my family and friends were worried about my health.

The spokes of my bicycle tended to break. I could not fit between the rows of loudspeakers and hi fi equipment in the storeroom where I worked. When installing audio visual cables in customer’s homes, I did not fit in narrow spaces under buildings or in ceiling spaces to install the wiring. I didn’t even fit through some ceiling access hatches.

My Body Mass Index was more than 33 which is more than overweight. It is obese.

So I got some diet and exercise advice at the gym. A diet with balanced prescribed amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oils. A low fat diet.

As I followed the advice I lost some weight but I felt hungry nearly all the time.

I hated the long boring cardio exercise workouts and my ability to lift heavy weights in the gym started to decrease.

I had less energy and I started gaining weight. Eventually I got to 120 kilograms.

My trousers tended to fall down because my belly was wider than my hips.
